Plant Heroes: Sentinel Plant Network, American Public Gardens Association

Plant Heroes is a program that was created by the  American Public Gardens Association as part of its role in the Sentinel Plant Network. It was specifically designed for young learners and aims to increase their knowledge about plant pests and diseases and ultimately engage them in protecting the plants in their own yards, neighborhoods and communities. Plant Heroes includes such emerging threats as the emerald ash borer, Agrilus planipennis. This program is a valuable resource for public garden professionals, parents and educators looking for innovative ways to teach K-12 audiences about this important subject.
